Novelist Charles Condomine invites medium Madame Arcati to his home to perform a séance as a way to gather research for his next novel. He certainly never expected a hapless psychic to summon the ghost of his late wife, Elvira! His life is turned upside down as the mischievous Elvira torments him and clashes with his new bride Ruth.
