From Wood to Iron Ships in the 19th Century
Learn about the change in skills and materials needed for wood to iron ships in the 1800s.

That changed in the latter half of the 1800s, when iron was being used to build ships. The skills and materials needed to build iron ship were drastically different than wooden ships.
