Tell your story to the crowd in West Chester

08/05/2015 11:17AM ● By J. Chambless

If you think you have what it takes to stand up in front of a crowd and tell a story -- one you've written or one you speak out loud -- you are welcome to the 2015 Story Slam Season at the Side Bar and Restaurant in West Chester.

Every second Tuesday of the month, writers and storytellers gather at the restaurant to present a wide-ranging night of tales, and pretty much anything goes. There's a theme for every evening. Spectators are welcome to come and witness what happens. All events begin at 8 p.m. Tickets for each Story Slam go on sale the day after the previous month’s event. Tickets are $8.

The winners at previous Story Slams are:

Janu. 13 – Lost – Winner: Diane Yannick
Feb. 10 – Unusual World – Winner: Rich Eagles
March 10 – Innocence – Winner: Maureen Egan
April 14 – The Sweet Life – Winner: Johnny Walker
May 12 – Wake Up Call – Winners: Gina Gennari and Pat Wendel
June 9 – Illusion – Winner: Cynthia Angst
July 14 – Freedom – Winner: Benjamin Levine.

The theme on Aug. 11 is Hunger. Upcoming themes are: Saved (Sept. 8); Blood and Guts (Oct. 13); and the final Grand Slam on Nov. 10, with a theme that's to be determined.
