HEROIN ARREST

On Dec. 27 at 11:38 p.m., New Garden Township Police saw a car in the 6700 block of Limestone Road entering the parking lot of a closed business. The car then entered the lots of two other businesses. After a traffic stop, police saw the driver, Mikeal Stone, 21, of Newark, Del., and a juvenile passenger making furtive movements. Stone was ordered out of the car and a white plastic wrapper fell from his sweatshirt. He admitted that the wrapper contained heroin and he was taken into custody. He was taken to Chester County Prison in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. The juvenile was released to an adult, but charges have been filed against him for possession of Xanax pills without a prescription.

SHOT FIRED THROUGH HOUSE

The home of a 47-year-old resident of 131 Great Oak Drive in Lincoln University was struck by a bullet on the afternoon of Dec. 22, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. The bullet traveled through the rear living room wall of the home and lodged in an interior wall. A 21-year-old suspect was located by police, but the victim did not want to press charges.

CAR WINDOW BROKEN

A vehicle parked in the 500 block of Center Street in Kennett Square had its driver's side window smashed sometime between 1 and 5:10 a.m. on Dec. 9, according to Kennett Square Police.

THEFTS FROM CARS

Several unlocked cars were entered and various items were stolen after midnight on Dec. 23, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. The cars were parked at 354 Welcome Avenue in London Grove Township. The stolen items totaled about $575.

MAKEUP AND PERFUME STOLEN

On Dec. 6 between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., a Victoria's Secret bag containing about $270 worth of makeup and perfume was stolen from a home in the 100 block of North Broad Street in Kennett Square, according to Kennett Square Police.

ROLLOVER ACCIDENT

An accident on the morning of Dec. 16 left two people with injuries, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. At 9:17 a.m., Diego Gutierrez-Aranda, 44, of West Grove, was driving north on Route 1 in the left passing lane when he reportedly thought he saw a car on his right moving into the passing lane. He swerved his car to the right, went into a ditch on the right side of Route 1 and the car rolled over several times, coming to rest on its roof. He sustained minor injuries, and a passenger, Irna Aguilir, 39, of West Grove, sustained moderate injuries. A 3-year-old girl was in a safety seat and was not injured. All three were taken to Christiana Hospital for examination. Police were assisted by Avondale Fire Company and EMS, and West Grove Fire and EMS.

PURSE STOLEN

A purse containing car keys, an Apple iPhone and $80 in cash was stolen from a business in the 100 block of East State Street between midnight and 2 a.m. on Dec. 6, according to Kennett Square Police.

BURGLARY

A home at 1142 Lees Bridge Road in East Nottingham Township was broken into sometime between Oct. 1 and Dec. 23, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. The home was ransacked, and weapons, a 60-inch TV, video game systems, video games and accessories were stolen.

GATE DAMAGED

On Dec. 27, a neighbor of a home in the 300 block of West Hall Road in Upper Oxford Township heard a car drive through the home's steel gate. The vehicle then left the scene before the neighbor could identify it. Anyone with information is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police Avondale at 610-268-2022.

PURSE STOLEN FROM CAR

A purse containing cash and prescription pills was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at the Walmart store in East Marlborough Township on Dec. 16 between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale.

WALMART ATTEMPTED THEFT

On Nov. 21 at 6:15 p.m., Zachary Alden Flowers, of New London Township, was seen attempting to steal a vacuum cleaner worth approximately $349 from the Walmart store in Oxford. Flowers later turned himself in to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Charges are pending.

DUI

Kennett Square Police arrested Lynn Marino, 49, of Kennett Square, for DUI after a traffic stop in the 600 block of East Cypress Street on Dec. 6 at 9:16 p.m. She was released at her home pending a summons from District Court.

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale arrested Somsack Sysavath, 34, of Kennett Square, after he backed out of a parking space at Giordano's Bar and Grill in Kennett Square, struck a parked car and left the scene. He was later found at his home and charged with DUI.

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale charged Miguel Zavala-Martinez, 61, of Avondale, with DUI after a traffic stop on Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. at Baltimore Pike and Penn Ridge Way.

New Garden Township Police arrested Miguel Reyes-Bautista, 23, of Toughkenamon, for DUI after a traffic stop on Dec. 24 at 12:58 a.m. An open case of beer was found on the rear seat, and Reyes-Bautista failed field sobriety tests. He was released pending a court appearance.

Amy Lynn Kerr, 19, of Atglen, was arrested for DUI after a one-car crash on Dec. 16 at 4:07 p.m. on Street Road, west of Lamborntown Road, in West Marlborough Township. Pennsylvania State Police Avondale said Kerr's 2012 Fiat left the roadway and struck an embankment. She was not injured, but was found to be DUI.
