Kennett Square Borough and Oxford Area School District Receive Grants to Hire Resource or Police Officers

According to a Nov. 16 article by Kathy Boccella of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Kennett Square Borough and Oxford Area School District are the Chester County recipients of Department of Education grants to aid schools in hiring resource or police officers for their districts.

In total, 
$3.9 million has been awarded to 114 schools and municipalities, including 17 in the Philadelphia region.

"
Under the grant program, signed into law last year, schools and towns can receive up to $60,000 for a resource officer and up to $40,000 for a police officer. Recipients are required to fund the positions for at least two years," the article says.
