Oct. 22

'Nurturing Parents'

A "Nurturing Parents" workshop will be held at Grove United Methodist Church (490 W. Boot Rd., north of West Chester) each week from 9 to 10:15 a.m. The free classes are open to all parents of young children. Taught by preschool director Melissa Bechtel and  education director Patti Klotz, each class uses an interactive approach to learning positive parenting practices and philosophies. Oct. 25

Buffet breakfast

The Oxford United Methodist Church (Market and Addison streets, Oxford) hosts an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast on Oct. 25 from 7 to 10 a.m. The menu includes buttermilk pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, fruit, sausage and bacon, roasted potatoes, sausage gravy and specialty breads. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for ages 3 to 10. Tickets are available at the door. For more information, call 610-932-9698.

 

Oct. 26

'Trunk or Treat'

All children up to and including fourth grade are invited to the annual “Trunk or Treat” free event on Oct. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at West Grove United Methodist Church (300 N. Guernsey Rd., West Grove). The event takes place in the parking lot, where cars and vans with decorated trunks will be set up with treats for children. Other children’s activities and a hayride are available. For more information, call 610-869-9334 or visit www.westgroveumc.org.

 

Oct. 27

Celebrate Recovery anniversary

Willowdale Chapel, 675 Unionville Rd., Kennett Square, will host a celebration of the fifth anniversary of the Celebrate Recovery program on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. There will be music, stories of changed lives, giveaways and food, and an introduction to the 12-step recovery program at Willowdale. Oct. 28

Community Cafe free lunch

West Grove United Methodist Church (300 N. Guernsey Rd., West Grove) will hold its free meal ministry, the Community Cafe, on Oct. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to the free meal, which is served restaurant-style at tables. Reservations are suggested, but not required, by calling 610-869-9334 or e-mailing [email protected]. The Rover Bus Company provides transportation for a small fee, but bus fare will be paid at the church for anyone who cannot afford it. Visit www.westgroveumc.org for more information.

 

Oct. 29

Joseph's People

Joseph's People, a support group for unemployed residents, will be held Oct. 29 at 6:45 p.m. in the Parish Life Center of ABVM's Church (300 State Rd., West Grove). The guest speaker will be Robin Briggs of CCI Advisors, who will discuss the Affordable Care Act or ACA (Obamacare). Christmas bazaar

Living God Lutheran Church (3200 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook), along with Hearts in Hands, will host the 10th annual Christmas bazaar on Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Crafters will feature Christmas items and other crafts for sale. Call 610-273-9383 for more information.

 

Nov. 15

Pancake and sausage breakfast

The Second Presbyterian Church (42 S. Fifth St., Oxford) hosts a pancake and sausage breakfast on Nov. 15 from 8 to 11 a.m. There will also be an egg and omelet station. Proceeds benefit the Presbyterian Women's mission fund. Tickets are $7 for adults, and $4 for ages 4 to 10.

 

Dec. 22

'Quiet Christmas'

“A Quiet Christmas Service” will be held at Grove United Methodist Church on Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. The community event is for those who want a respite from the busy season, and especially those who may be grieving due to a death, life changes or divorce. The service includes a candle-lighting segment. The church is at 490 W. Boot Road, West Chester. For directions, visit www.grovechurch.org.
