FATAL ACCIDENT

Sheila Combs, of West Grove, was killed in a one-car accident on Oct. 5, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Police said Combs was driving her 2000 Dodge Neon east on Baltimore Pike, west of Grist Mill Road, at 10:42 p.m., when the car left the roadway, struck a telephone pole and drainage ditch, and rolled onto its roof. Her passenger, Rocky Combs, was injured and taken to Christiana Hospital.

RETAIL THEFT ARRESTS

On Aug. 20, Kennett Square Police arrested Jessica Pyle, 27, of Elkton, Md., and Michelle Radcliff, 23, of North East, Md., for retail theft after a traffic stop in the 600 block of West Cypress Street in Kennett Square.

Pyle and Radcliff had more than $1,300 worth of stolen merchandise, including Rogaine, Sonicare toothbrushes, Norelco shavers and diet pills taken from a business in the 100 block of South Mill Road and a business in the 800 block of East Baltimore Pike. They were arraigned and bail was set at $10,000 each. Unable to post bail, they were remanded to Chester County Prison.

VIDEO OF MINOR SHARED

On Sept. 25, Pennsylvania State Police Avondale reported that they are investigating the transmission of sexually explicit images by a minor. The video of a minor female was uploaded to the file sharing system at Oxford High School, police said. A 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl are involved in the incident, police said. No further details were released by police.

BURGLARIES

A home in the 100 block of South Willow Street in Kennett Square was burglarized sometime between Aug. 28 and Sept. 1, according to Kennett Square Police, who listed the stolen items as a Playstation 3, a DVD player, $1,500 worth of jewelry and $9,000 in cash.

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale reported that on Oct. 2 at 3:22 a.m., an unknown man smashed the front door of the Spring Mobile store at 839 W. Baltimore Pike in Penn Township, stole seven display model cellphones and $200 in cash from the register, and fled through the back door. An investigation is ongoing.

Kennett Square Police reported that on Aug. 21 between 3 and 4 p.m., two bicycles were stolen from a garage in the 300 block of East Mulberry Street. The bikes are a blue-and-white BMX and a lime green Avico bicycle.

Kennett Square Police arrested Dario Zavala-Villagomez, 61, of Kennett Square, on Sept. 13 on charges of burglary, theft and criminal trespass. Police said Zavala-Villagomez entered an open garage in the 300 block of Meredith Street and took a fishing pole. His bail was set at $5,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to Chester County Prison.

A homeowner in the 100 block of West Mulberry Street in Kennett Square told police that someone broke into their home between 1 and 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 and stole $300 in cash.

A home at 2299 Brintons Bridge Road in Pocopson Township was entered on Sept. 23 between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., and jewelry, jewelry boxes and a bedspread were stolen, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale.

On Aug. 3 between 4:45 and 5:15 a.m., a couple living at 75 Jonathan Court in East Marlborough Township were awakened by an intruder, identified as Carlos Caraballo, 26. Caraballo entered the home through a window that was open at the back of the house, went upstairs and entered the bedroom. The couple knows Caraballo. They chased him out of the home. Anyone with information about Caraballo's location is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

A building behind the AT&T store at 858 E. Baltimore Pike in East Marlborough Township was broken into between Sept. 25 and 29, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. The burglars cut and took about $1,000 worth of coper wire before fleeing.

DRUG PARAPHERNALIA CHARGES

On Aug. 30, Kennett Square Police detained Jason Butcher, 27, of Kennett Square, for an outstanding bench warrant and found that he had drug paraphernalia. A criminal complaint was filed and Butcher was released to constables.

Kennett Square Police arrested Breanna Castillo, 18, of Toughkenamon, or three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia on Aug. 30 at 11:41 p.m. in the 200 block of Birch Street. She was released to a friend pending a summons from District Court.

Kennett Square Police arrested a 15-year-old Kennett Square boy for possession of drug paraphernalia  on Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. in the 100 block of North Broad Street. He was referred to Juvenile Probation.

New Garden Township Police pulled over a car being driven by Kellie Armendariz, 19, of Wilmington, Del., on Sept. 15, and an odor of marijuana was detected in the car. Armendariz admitted to smoking marijuana. Passenger Cesar Hernandez-Cabrera, 26, of Coatesville, was arrested for drug possession after marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the car. He was later released pending a court appearance. Armendariz was taken into custody on outstanding warrants.

THEFTS FROM CARS

On Sept. 19 at 2:15 a.m., an unlocked garage on Light Farm Drive in Londonderry Township was entered and an unocked car inside was searched for valuables, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Anyone with information is asked to call trooper Revels at 610-268-2022.

Overnight on Sept. 16, someone stole cash from an unlocked vehicle parked outside a home at 467 Pennocks Bridge Road in West Grove. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

Overnight on Sept. 10, a car parked at 209 Locust Drive in Lincoln University was entered and 117 Suboxone films were stolen. The films are used to treat opioid dependence. Anyone with information is asked to call trooper Ryan Smith at 610-268-2022.

PLOW AND TOOLS STOLEN

A home at 1698 Fairville Road was the target of thieves overnight on Sept. 22, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Someone cut a chained gate and entered the victim's driveway, where they stole a Sno-Way snow plow, a steel utility trailer, a ladder and several hand tools. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

FLAGSTONES STOLEN

A homeowner at 1 Red Bridge Lane in Pocopson Township reported the theft of 24 flagstone slabs from his home between Sept. 16 and 19. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

TIRES STOLEN

Someone stole four truck tires from the front porch of a home at 244 Reedville Rd. in Lower Oxford Township on Sept. 24 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS

Kennett Square Police cited Santos Allon, 29, for public drunkenness after they received reports of a man running in the middle of South Walnut Street and blocking traffic on Sept. 12 at 10:51 p.m. He was released to a friend.

DUI

Francisco Salazar-Rojas, 42, of Kennett Square, was arrested for DUI after an accident in the 300 block of South Union Street on Aug. 31 at 4:26 a.m. He was released to a relative pending a summons from District Court.

Kennett Square Police arreted Zakaria Jamshidi, 18, of Avondale, for driving under the influence of controlled substances, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic offenses after a vehicle stop in the 200 block of East State Street on Aug. 24 at 7:38 p.m. He was released to a friend pending a summons from District Court.

New Garden Township Police arrested Victor Santingo, 50, of New Castle, Del., for DUI on Sept. 20 after a traffic stop for an equipment violation on Newark Road. Santingo was charged and released pending a court appearance. 

Kennett Square Police arrested Jose Aguilera-Pantoja, 34, of Kennett Square, for DUI on Sept. 21 at 3:15 a.m. in the 200 block of South Walnut Street after a vehicle stop. He was released at his home pending a summons from District Court.

Kennett Square Police arrested Milian Lopez-Hernandez, 26, of Parksley, Va., for DUI on Sept. 7 at 5:15 a.m. in the 100 block of Marshall Street after a vehicle stop. His bail was set at $5,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to Chester County Prison. 

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale arrested a Hockessin, Del., man after a car he was driving struck another car on Sept. 7. Police said Joseph Frederick Zomerfeld, 34, of Hockessin, was driving his 2002 Honda Accord on Kaolin Road, north of Limestone Road, when he crossed the center line and struck a car traveling north on Kaolin Road. The 31-year-old driver of the car that was struck suffered a broken right ankle and broken right hand. Police determined that Zomerfeld was DUI.

John Bigelow Sheridan, 30, of Wilmington, Del., was arrested for DUI by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale on Sept. 27 after a single-vehicle crash. Police found Sheridan's car crashed at the intersection of Baltimore Pike and Route 41 in Avondale at 10:15 p.m. He was charged with DUI and related traffic offenses.

Ricardo Mora, 28, was arrested for DUI by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale after a traffic stop on Sept. 27 at 11:25 p.m. on Penn Green Road, west of Route 41.
