MOTORCYCLIST DIES

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a one-vehicle crash that killed a New Holland man on Sept. 13. Police say that Robert Ference, 29, of New Holland, was riding his Suzuki motorcycle on Route 10, south of Walnut Road in Honey Brook Township, just after 3 a.m. when he apparently failed to slow down at a left curve. The motorcycle skidded off the roadway and flipped, sliding about 114 feet. Ference, who was wearing a helmet, was fatally injured.

BURGLARIES

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale are investigating a burglary that took place overnight on Sept. 5, when someone broke into a shed in the 100 block of Grant Street in East Nottingham Township and stole copper wire. Anyone with information is asked to call trooper Revels at 610-268-2022.

Sometime between Aug. 23 and Sept. 5, an air compressor was stolen from a home at 905 Old Forge Road in Elk Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale. No sign of forced entry was found.

SHOPLIFTING LEADS

TO OTHER CHARGES

Joseph Michael Sawyer, Jr., 34, of Holtwood, Pa., was stopped after he tried to leave the Walmart store at 800 Commons Road in Oxford on Sept. 6 at 11:29 a.m. Found with $379 worth of concealed merchandise, he was later charged by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of instruments of cime, and driving with a suspended license.

ASSAULT CHARGES

On Sept. 4, New Garden Township police responded to a report of a domestic-related assault in the 300 block of Cedar Springs Road. The victim said she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, Manuel Arevalo-Morales, 21, of Kennett Square. She said she went to his home to drop off their child for a scheduled visit. During an argument, Arevalo-Morales pulled the victim's hair and kicked her in the lower back as she was walking away with the baby in her arms. Arevalo-Morales followed the victim to her car, where he demanded her phone and grabbed it away from her. Police later found Arevalo-Morales at the Avondale Apartments, where he was taken into custody and charged with robbery, simple assault and harassment. He was remanded to Chester County Prison on $5,000 cash bail.

CONCEALED WEAPON

Jonathan Leo Aguilera, 24, of Avondale, was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale on Sept. 8 at the Avondale Apartments. Initially, he was arrested for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, but a search revealed a concealed fiream which Aguilera did not have a permit for. He was also in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

DRUG PARAPHERNALIA CHARGES

Brian Reese Sebastian, 33, of Oxford, was arrested on a warrant by Lancaster police on Sept. 12 at 376 Gap Newport Pike in Sadsbury Borough, and was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

DUI

Pennsylvania State Police Avondale responded to a motorcycle crash on Sept. 11 at Route 82 south of Apple Grove Road in West Marlborough Township and found that the driver, George Douglas Rogers, 29, of Parkesburg, was under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Rogers was injured in the crash and was taken to Brandywine Hospital. Charges are pending.

Andrew Jacob Rawley, 31, of Wilmington, Del., was arrested for DUI after a traffic stop on Sept. 12 at Cossart and Stockford roads in Pennsbury Township.

On Sept. 6 at midnight, Matthew David Carpenter, 28, of Havertown, was arrested for DUI-drug after a traffic stop at Stockford and Fairville roads in Pennsbury Township.
