Unionville Community Fair seeks volunteers

The organizers of the Unionville Community Fair are looking for adult and student volunteers to help in several areas in September and October.

Volunteers are needed get the fairgrounds ready, make some phone calls or stuff envelopes, help with data entry on entry night, or be on a hospitality committee for judging day. A club or group could also help with parking during the fair. For more information, e-mail [email protected], or call 610-444-5706.

The schedule this year is:

Thursday, Sept. 25 -- Fair Queen and Princess Pageant at the Unionville Elementary School auditorium;

Saturday, Sept, 27 --Set up of fairgrounds (work sessions held on two previous weekends);

Wednesday, Oct. 1 -- Entry night from 2 to 9 p.m. in the Red Barn;

Thursday, Oct. 2 -- Judging of entries in the Red Barn;

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 3, 4 and 5 – Fair is open to the public.


Volunteers are needed:

To supply food/snacks to contestants and judges at the Queen and Princess Pageant on Sept. 25;

To assist with setting up the grounds and inside tables for the Red Barn on Sept. 27;

To work as parking and security attendants in shifts from Wednesday afternoon to Sunday;

To set up Giggles n’ Grins children's area, handle admissions or monitor the age-limited attraction (Oct. 3 to 5);

To help directors and judges on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 1 and 2;

To sponsor the Judges’ Reception (furnish coffee and refreshments) in the Red Barn on Oct. 2;

To help at the horse show with parking, set up, classes and announcements.

Directors are needed:

To receive and display entries on Wednesday afternoon and evening (Oct. 1);

To be present during judging, attach ribbons and arrange entries (Oct. 2);

To supervise entries as they are retrieved on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.

The fair is also seeking help for the Denim & Diamonds preview party and fundraiser, for planning activities, for providing or soliciting donations of items to be auctioned, and to sponsor all or part of the costs of the fair (food, beverages, etc.).
