Hopewell Elementary School recently hosted area author Jen Bryant, whose biographical picture book “A River of Words: The Story of William Carlos Williams,” received a Caldecott Honor Award. Bryant spoke with the fifth and sixth grade students about her career and how she creates a story. During her presentation, Bryant focused on her novel “The Trial,” which is based on the Lindbergh Baby kidnapping trial which took place in Flemington, N.J. in 1935. She provided the students with an extensive overview of the case and detailed how she researched the book through interviews and archival records. Bryant is pictured with librarian Maureen Pongracz and fifth grader Jocelyn Laber.
