Gammon Earhart, PT, Ph.D., has been named director of the program in physical therapy at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, effective July 1.

Earhart will succeed Susie Deusinger, who is retiring after 36 years at Washington University School of Medicine, the last 24 as its director.

Earhart is a graduate of Oxford Area High School and received her undergraduate degree and physical therapy degree from Arcadia University.  She then earned a Ph.D. in movement science at Washington University, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University. She joined the program in physical therapy faculty in 2004.

“Gammon has the vision, creativity and stamina to spur further innovation and change for the program in physical therapy. She will be an exceptional leader,” Deusinger said.
Earhart is a professor of physical therapy, neurobiology and neurology.  She is the president-elect of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) section on research and won APTA’s Eugene Michels New Investigator Award in 2005.  In 2013, she received the Washington University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award.
