Local charity needs your votes

In 2009, at the age of 11, Sierra RyanWallick of Chester County started raising money and awareness for homeless cats.  To date, she and the Autumn Leaf Fundraisers (a group she created, currently consisting of six teens and a couple of adults) have raised more than $17,000 and volunteered  more than 7,000 hours for cats.  This group knits, sews, weaves and makes jewelry, selling their items at community events, and donating all of the money to Forgotten Cats, a cat rescue operating in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey.

ALF is one of 27 national finalists in the Jefferson Awards Lead360 Challenge.  This award honors volunteers building community through outstanding youth service projects.  The five projects receiving the most votes will join the Jefferson Awards National Ceremony on June 17 and 18 in Washington D.C.

In addition to soliciting votes, ALF needs people to share information with as many people as possible.  This is a social media voting contest that is shared via e-mail, Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook.  Votes are being collected through May 21. Votes can be cast at:, or find the link on Facebook under Autumn Leaf Fundraisers.

Autumn Leaf Fundraisers will be selling items at the New Garden Growers Market on May 31.
