Kennett Square police reported that a red 1996 Acura Integra, with Pennsylvania registration JDN5609, was stolen between 6 p.m. on March 30 and 5:15 a.m. on March 31 in the 100 block of North Willow Street. The investigation is continuing.
DOG OWNER CHARGED
Kennett Square police twice cited Cristian Padilla, 20, of Kennett Square, for allowing his dog to run loose. The dog was reportedly chasing a resident in the 700 block of Wayne Avenue on April 1 at 10:43 a.m., and running loose in the 700 block of Wayne Avenue on April 5 at 10 a.m.
A car was hit by eggs sometime between 5:15 and 9:15 p.m. on March 31 while it was parked in the 100 block of North Union Street in Kennett Square, according to Kennett Square police.
FAKE VALET STEALS CAR
On April 15, New Garden Township Police responded to the Bowling Green Brandywine addiciton treatment center on Newark Road for a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim told police he was checking in to the facility when a man outside identified himself as an employee and said the victim had to hand over his keys and luggage. The victim entered the waiting area and saw the man leave in his Chevrolet Blazer. The driver was later identified as a patient at the facility, Keith Brown, 20, of Hatboro. He was later found walking near the facility. The truck was recovered the next day in Wilmington, Del. Brown admitted to taking the truck. He was taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post bail.
On April 17, New Garden Township Police responded to a home in the 100 block of Laurel Heights Road for a report of a domestic incident between a father and son. At the scene, the father told police his son had threatened to "cut his heart out" during an argument. Zachary Sweeney, 19, of Landenberg, had barricaded himself in his room, and was restrained by police. He admitted to making the threat. He was arrested for terroristic threats and harassment, arraigned and released on bail.
New Garden Township Police responded to the 100 block of Santilli Road on April 18 for a report of an unconscious person. Their condition was later changed to cardiac arrest due to a heroin overdose. The patient's mother told police that a woman named Jada had been staying with the patient. She was found outside the house and appeared very nervous. During a search, police found suspected heroin hidden in her sock. She was later identified as Jada Ferguson, 26, of Mill Hall, Pa. She was found to have outstanding warrants from Centre County. She was arraigned and taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post bail.
On April 19 at 11:30 p.m., New Garden Township Police responded to a report of a car stopped at Penn Green Road and Gap Newport Pike with someone sleeping inside. Police found the car stopped at a green light, with the driver, Mauricio Pizano-Mendoza, 38, of Avondale, asleep with his foot on the brake. It took two minutes for police to awaken him. He was charged with DUI and released pending a court appearance.
New Garden Township Police charged Gerardo Cano-Zavala, 44, of Cochranville, with DUI after a traffic stop on April 20. He was seen driving on Newark Road, swerving, with his turn signal on. He threw litter out of the car window and almost struck a pole while driving off the side of the road. He was processed and released pending a court appearance.
New Garden Township Police arrested Salomon Avila-Lopez, 29, of Kennett Square, for DUI after a traffic stop on April 20. His car was seen swerving on Newark Road and was pulled over by police in the 100 block of Willow Street. He was processed and released pending a court appearance.
