Art on the Square art and craft festival is slated April 26

Art on the Square, a fine art and craft festival, returns to downtown Kennett Square on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

The organizers juried 40 regional professional artists into the annual event. They will be showing and selling paintings, sculptures, photographs, jewelry, pottery, fiber art, furniture and more. Several Kennett Square galleries and businesses will also be participate in the day's festivities: Longwood Art Gallery (200 E. State St.); Mala Galleria (206 E. State St.); Carol Lesher (105 S. Broad St.); Holly Peters Oriental Rugs (109 S. Broad St.); The Centre for Vibrant Living (331 E. State St.); and Bliss Yoga (123 E. State St.).

The annual Student Art Exhibit will feature student art from local schools, and will be open April 24 to 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 112 E. State St.

Information and activities for the whole family will be offered by the Bayard Taylor Library (216 E. State St.) and by the Center for the Creative Arts in Yorklyn, Del. The Kennett Flash is hosting an all-day singer/songwriter showcase. 

Now in its third year, Art on the Square will be located at the intersection of West State Street and South Broad Street. For the first time, South Broad Street will be closed to vehicle traffic.

Art on the Square coincides with and supports the 49th Annual Kennett Square Plant Sale, hosted by the Kennett Square Beautification Committee. The plant sale is located on the brick walkway beside Genesis HealthCare. Proceeds from the sale contribute to the upkeep of the flower barrels throughout downtown Kennett Square.
