Calendar art

The Brandywine River Museum (Route 1, Chadds Ford) presents "A Date With Art: The Business of Illustrated Calendars," featuring original works by Maxfield Parrish and Norman Rockwell, through May 18. Also on view through May 18 is "N.C. Wyeth's America in the Making," featuring images of inspirational and patriotic events by the renowned illustrator, including props from his Chadds Ford studio. 'Under the Influence'

Somerville Manning Gallery (101 Stone Block Row, Greenville, Del.) presents "Under the Influence," an exhibition of contemporary artists and the masters who inspire them, through April 5. Exhibiting artists are Jeff Moulton, who draws inspiration from Richard Diebenkorn; Dan Rizzle, who is inspired by Donalt Sultan; and Vicki Vinton, who is inspired by Willem de Kooning. Also included will be Scott Prior, who is inspired by Gregory Gillsepie; and Jane Morris Pack, whose photos draw inspiration from Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. Nature-inspired art

The Delaware Museum of Natural History (4840 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, Del.) hosts "Nature's Bounty: Nature-Inspired Art" by students of the Delaware College of Art and Design, through April 19. Museum hours are Monday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for children (3 to 17), $8 for seniors, free for children 2 and younger. April 2 to 25

Casadei and Remenick

The Oxford Arts Alliance (38 S. Third St., Oxford) will exhibit paintings by Richard Remenick and Giovanni Casadei  in April. An artist reception will be held April 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. Casadei was raised in Rome and spent four years earning a certificate at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. His mentor was Seymour Reminick, Richard’s father.  Richard Remenick was first influenced by his well-known father. Gallery hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit OxfordArt.org.

April 4 to 6

Artists Circle show

The Artists Circle, a professional 29-member artist group, will host its Annual Art Show and Sale from April 4 to 6 at St. Luke Lutheran Church (203 N. Valley Forge Rd., Devon). The group will showcase hundreds of framed original works by member artists as well as unframed originals and signed prints.  The artwork will be displayed in the church’s Schlack Hall and be accompanied by a number of live painting demonstrations. The show opens at 1 p.m. on April 4, with a meet-the-artist reception from 6 to 9 p.m.  Saturday’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday's hours are noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Sarah Yeoman watercolors

The Wilson Vineyard Gallery (4374 Forge Rd., Nottingham) will host a show of watercolors by Sarah Yeoman, beginning with an artist's reception on April 5 from noon to 6 p.m. Gallery hours are Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Visit www.wilsonvineyard.com for more information.

Richard Beards life celebration

The Oxford Arts Alliance (38 S. Third St., Oxford) will be the site of a "Celebration of Life Open House" in honor of Richard Beards on April 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. The public is welcome. Beards, who died in December, was the owner of the Bookplace book shop and gallery in Oxford, and a longtime supporter of the regional arts community. 


May 2

Silent auction

The Oxford Arts Alliance (38 S. Third St., Oxford) hosts a Bats, Birds and Butterfly Houses Silent Auction on May 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. The houses have been decorated by regional artists. Proceeds benefit the Arts Alliance. Gallery hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit www.oxfordart.org.

Members' exhibit
