MARTINEZ-ATKINSON

Maritza Martinez, daughter of Efrain and Manuela Martinez of Abilene, Texas, and Major Philip Ziegler Atkinson, son of Kay Atkinson-Smith and the late Rev. Theodore Atkinson of Kirkwood, Pa., were united in marriage at 1 p.m. on Oct.12 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abilene, Texas. 
Mrs. Marcella Melendez was her sister's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jasmine Martinez, niece of the bride and Katelyn Whitley, friend of the bride. Attending the bridegroom as co-best men were the groom's brothers, Andrew Atkinson and Captain Mark Atkinson, of the U.S. Army. 
A reception for the newlyweds was held at the Abilene Civic Center. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii. 
Mrs. Atkinson, a graduate of Abilene High School and McMurry University, is currently employed as a financial aid counselor at McMurry University. Mr. Atkinson is a graduate of Solanco High School, Pennsylvania State University and Trident University. He is an active duty officer with the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Dyess Air Force Base, Texas.
