Oxford Area High School students Elizabeth Hershey and Kevin Mellina were honored as Oxford Rotary Club Seniors of the Month for May.

Elizabeth, daughter of Shirley and Ron Hershey, is a member of the National Honor Society and, for two years, has been a member of the Helping Hands Community Service Club, serving as treasurer during her senior year, and the LEOs Club of Lions International, serving as secretary her senior year. She is a four-year member of the varsity softball team and has played on a travel team for three years.

A member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Coatesville, Elizabeth is currently the national president of the Junior Ukrainian Orthodox League, after serving as secretary for 2011-12. She attended the winter meeting of the organization's national board this past February in Pittsburgh and will attend the national convention in Parma, Ohio in July.

This fall, Elizabeth will attend the University of Minnesota to study political science and economics.

Kevin, son of Rosemary and Noel Mellina, is a four-year member of the Helping Hands Community Service Club, and served on the Helping Paws committee, which organizes fundraising and volunteer activities for local animal shelters, and the Make-a-Wish committee.

Kevin is a four-year member of the French Club and a member of the French Honor Society. Last summer he visited France as part of a trip sponsored by the high school's art department and hopes to return as part of his college studies.

Kevin has been a member of the stage crew for two years, working behind the scenes on "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," and this year's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."

This fall, Kevin will attend Penn State's Main Campus to begin pre-med studies for a possible career in neurology or cardiac surgery.
