"We're very excited about our new office in Oxford," said Maggie Garcia-Taylor, the principal agent of the Nationwide Insurance office during the grand opening celebration on Friday, June 7.

She and her husband, Chris Taylor, acquired the Gary Williams and John Masciantonio agency in Oxford in December of 2012, but soon set their sights on a location across the street. The new office, at 1,500 square feet, offers them more space and the ability to put up the signage that they want.

Oxford Borough officials, members of the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce, the Oxford Chamber of Commerce, and the local farm bureau all turned out for the grand opening, which was one of the highlights of the June First Friday event in Oxford.

Dan Miller, the president of the Chester-Delaware County Farm Bureau, commented on the strong ties that Nationwide Insurance has with the agricultural community.

"We really appreciate the relationship that we have with Nationwide," Miller said, noting that the insurance company started out because farmers needed to have a way to insure themselves.

State Rep. John Lawrence talked about the importance of small businesses like Nationwide Insurance to towns like Oxford.

"Small business is the backbone of America," Lawrence said. "It's very exciting."

Garcia-Taylor said that she was very pleased with the turnout of the grand opening, and wants to be involved with activities in Oxford.

"We want to be a part of the community," Garcia-Taylor said.
