A 16-year-old Kennett Square boy was arrested by Kennett Square police on April 26 for public drunkenness, resisting arrest, underage drinking, criminal mischief and two counts of disorderly conduct. The incident started as an underage drinking incident, and escalated when the teen was released to his parent, arrived home and broke a window. He was also yelling obscenities in the street. He was remanded to the Chester County Youth Center. A 15-year-old boy from Toughkenamon was also cited for underage drinking and released to his parent.
THREATS LEAD TO CHARGES
On May 3 at 2:35 a.m., Kennett Square police arrested Mark Burrell Jr., 24, of Kennett Square, for resisting arrest, making terroristic threats, harassment and two counts of disorderly conduct. Burrell, trying to get at the victim of the threats and harassment, charged at police, was pushed back and charged police again. He was arraigned and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.
DUI AND DRUG CHARGES
Pennsylvania State Police Avondale arrested Michael Paul Owens, 25, of West Grove, on May 25 after a traffic stop on State Road, south of Pennocks Bridge Road. Owens was pulled over for speeding and he was found to be under the influence of drugs. A search of his car turned up four bags of suspected heroin.
911 CALL LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES
Pennsylvania State Police Avondale reported that Christopher Eugene Folk, 25, of West Grove, called 911 on May 27 to report that he was having chest pains. Police found two burned marijuana cigarettes in his car. Folk was taken into custody without incident.
SIGN DAMAGED
A sign in front of Cecilia's Mexican Takeout, at 890 Baltimore Pike in Penn Township, was partially knocked down overnight on April 17, causing about $3,500 in damage, according to a report by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale.
CASH STOLEN
Kennett Square police are investigating a report of the theft of $600 in cash from an apartment in the 600 block of Lafayette Street. The theft occurred on April 30 between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.
MAILBOX DESTROYED
A home in the 300 block of Indiantown Road in Landenberg had its mailbox destroyed and the mail inside burned by unknown vandals on May 10, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale.
FRAUD AND FORGERY
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a case of theft by forgery. A 36-year-old Avondale resident had their personal information stolen, and two accounts were opened in their name between April 25 and May 14. Fraudulent transactions from the accounts totaled $2,377.
CAR STOLEN
An unlocked car with the keys inside was stolen from 1691 E. Street Road in Pennsbury Township overnight on May 2, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The car was found on May 3 in West Chester.
CAR LOT BURGLARIZED
Pennsylvania State Police Avondale reported that three cars in a used car lot at 65 Old Baltimore Pike in Avondale had their windows smashed and items stolen from inside on May 19 at about 5 p.m.
DIRT BIKE STOLEN
A 2005 Honda CRF dirt bike valued at $800 was stolen from the garage of a home at 132 South Deer Run Drive in New London Township sometime overnight on May 21, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale.
DUI
Kennett Square police arrested Nanette Drake, 54, of Lincoln University, for DUI after a traffic stop on April 24 in the 500 block of West State Street. She was released to a friend pending a summons from district court.
Kennett Square police arrested Maryellen Mischler, 47, of West Chester, for DUI after a traffic stop on May 3 at East Cypress Street and Exelon Way. She was released to a friend pending a summons from district court.
Pennsylvania State Police Avondale reported that Stephen Robert Tait, 59, of Kemblesville, was arrested for DUI on May 18 at about 4 p.m. after he pushed a 53-year-old woman to the floor at their Kemblesville home, causing her to strike her forehead, and left in his car.
Kevin Richard Love, 25, of West Chester, was stopped for a traffic violation on May 25 at 1:49 a.m. on Baltimore Pike east of Route 52, and was found to be DUI. He was arrested and later released by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale.
Lisa Lucas-Hall, 50, of Wilmington, Del., was arrested for DUI at Cobblers Lane and Route 896 in New London Township on May 7, just after midnight, according to Pennsylvania State Police Avondale.
Luis Geraldo Leon, 28, was arrested for DUI after a traffic stop by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale on May 23 on Route 41, south of Starr Road.
Pennsylvania State Police Avondale arrested Thomas Edward Glass, 53, of Newark, Del., for DUI after a traffic stop on May 16 on Parkersville Road north of Route 1 in Pennsbury Township.
Michael Lee Russell, 47, of Nottingham, was pulled over for a traffic violation by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale on May 23 at Wood Drive and Glen Roy Road, and was found to be DUI. He was arrested and later released.
Alexandria Marie Tavoni, 19, of Kennett Square, was pulled over for a traffic violation by Pennsylvania State Police Avondale on May 23 on Chambers Road south of Baltimore Pike, and was found to be DUI. She was arrested and later released.
Pennsylvania State Police Avondale arrested Rogelio Alvarez-Sanchez, 44, of Kennett Square, for DUI after a traffic stop on May 25 at 2:30 a.m. on Route 1, south of Route 52.
Pennsylvania State Police Avondale arrested German Tapia, 46, of Oxford, for DUI after officers pulled him over at Newark Road and Corby Road on June 1 just after midnight.
Pennsylvania State Police Avondale charged Kennett Charles Vanish, 65, of Sicklerville, N.J., for DUI at a sobriety checkpoint on May 25 at routes 1 and 52.
