The Oxford Area High School Student Council and Student Renaissance Committee recently held a breakfast to recognize the school’s Students of the Month for April. Each month, teachers in a specific department nominate a freshman, sophomore or junior student for this honor, with the final six selections made by the school administration.

Students of the Month are chosen based on criteria including demonstrating an effort and desire to learn; involvement in school and classroom activities; respect for all school policies and personnel; concern for the school community and friendliness and support for other students. The following students were recognized as Students of the Month for April:

Paris Lloyd, sophomore: Paris’s favorite subject is math. She babysits full-time and in her spare time enjoys sports and music. After graduation, Paris plans to attend West Chester University to study nursing.

Beth Kline, sophomore: Beth’s favorite subject is history, but says that art is fun as well. She works as a cashier at Redner’s and in her spare time she likes to read, be with friends and create art. After high school, Beth says, “I want to change the world, maybe get into politics, or be a physiologist.”

Antonio Padavano, junior: Antonio’s favorite subject is either math or science, specifically chemistry and physics. After graduation, he plans to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps. In his spare time, Antonio enjoys recording YouTube videos of games and music.

Becca Portugal, junior: Becca’s favorite subjects are chemistry and math. In her spare time, she likes to help her mom at her veterinary office. After graduation, she would like to study for career as a chemical engineer or computer science engineer and then attend the University of Pennsylvania to become a veterinarian.

Quin Barker, junior: Quin’s favorite subject is physical education. In his spare time, he loves to exercise. After graduation Quin would like to study to be a mechanic.

Maddie Sapp, junior: Maddie’s favorite subjects are math and English. After graduation, she would like to attend college and her areas of study include early childhood education, Spanish, music and art. She works as grocery store cashier, and in her spare time enjoys reading, singing, baking and playing softball.
