Grains of the World Dinner
Newlin Grist Mill director Tony Shahan will host a special dining event featuring grains from across the globe. Some grains will be familiar, but many, like amaranth, einkhorn and millet, are sure to be new to most people. Attendees will enjoy the creative use of grains in soups, salads, main dishes, sides, desserts and beverages.
The first course will be a salad and bread course featuring grains form the Andean Region, Mesoamerica, India and Africa. Course two will include soup and chips from Ancient Rome and Spain. The third and fourth courses features main and side dishes from the Middle East, Balkans, and England. Finally the fifth course will be a dessert sampler. A sample of beer and a grain-based cocktail will be served with each course.
