Highspire Ballet Academy presents Art and Movement

Fine Art and Ballet

Get ready for a unique event: a live session, open to the public, combining ballet dancers and artists from disciplines ranging from painting to sculpture and pop to classical, on Saturday, February 27th at the Highspire Ballet Academy in Downingtown. Artists will be capturing reference drawings, photographs and plein air painting to prepare for an exhibition on Friday, April 1st, also at the Highspire Ballet Academy, at 534 Trestle Place, Downingtown, PA. The dancers of Art and Movement will be organized under the directorship of Gleidson Hoffmann, beginning with the youngest students in the morning. As the artists get warmed up throughout the day, more experienced and professional dancers will complete the afternoon session. The common theme will be that all of these artists will be completely out of their comfort zone as they attempt to capture poise and posture and movement in materials that can be drawn upon to create the finished work for the reception one month later. The artists represent a star-studded lineup of some of the top Chester county artists, including internationally-renowned pop-artist Jeff Schaller, the classical realist painter Adrian Martinez, steel sculptor Karen Delaney, painters Teresa Haag, Randall Graham, David Katz and the only out-of-county artist, plein air painter Brian Eppley from Harrisburg. Rounding out the participating artists will be the organizer of Art and Movement, still-life painter David Oleski. Highspire Ballet Academy owner Tracy Hoffmann will act as concierge and will be available to describe the classes and workshops presented at the ballet academy. Gleidson Hoffmann will act as the master of ceremonies, to introduce the various movements and routines. This lively and colorful event is open to the public, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. There is ample free parking, and light refreshments will be served throughout the day. This event is free to the public, including the opening reception showcasing the completed artwork, on Friday, April 1st. The live session for Art and Movement will be Saturday, February 27th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with a short recess for lunch. The opening reception for Art and Movement will be Friday, April 1st, from 5:00-9:00 pm. Visit the Highspire Ballet Academy website, http://www.highspireballet.com
