ARRL Amateur Radio Field Day
Local amateur radio operators demonstrate emergency communications.
Amateur Radio – Failsafe Communications in a Disaster! Amateur Radio Field Day – June 27, 2 PM until June 28, 2 PM (Public Welcome!) Lines Self-Storage; 964 Pottstown Pike; Chester, Springs, PA 19425 In a major disaster, how would you get help or contact your loved ones without cell service?? Come see Chester County amateur (ham) radio operators from the 146.985 Repeater Group demonstrate emergency communications including voice, Morse Code, digital, and even satellite! The public is welcome to visit, participate, and actually get on the air with the operators! We take our cell phones and the electrical grid for granted – because they always seem to be there. Until they’re not! Amateur Radio fills that huge communications void, saves lives, and protects property during major natural and manmade disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and wildfires. When all other communications methods fail, ham radio prevails. Many prominent Americans including the Artemis astronauts, musicians, and Hollywood stars are licensed ham radio operators. Field Day is an annual nationwide event founded and sponsored by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) - the National Association for Amateur Radio. For details on Field Day, Amateur Radio and getting licensed, contact Ron Medykiewicz, WA3VEE, [email protected].
