Pre-Raphaelite Conservation Gallery Talk

Join Alexandra Earl, DelArt’s Pre-doctoral Conservation fellow, for a gallery talk and discussion of Pre-Raphaelite painting techniques. A recent graduate of The Courtauld Institute of Art’s painting conservation program, Alexandra will speak about Rossetti's methods and materials from the perspective of a conservator. In this talk, attendees will look closely at three of Rossetti’s most famous works in DelArt’s collection: Lady Lilith, Found, and Veronica Veronese. Alexandra will address the effects of 19th-century conservation practices, Rossetti's relationship with artist suppliers, and his choice of pigments, particularly Emerald Green, which was a highly toxic pigment used during the 19th century. We hope you’ll join us for this fascinating presentation!
