Join award-winning cidermaker “Doc” Cheskin in a discussion of the rich history of apples, cider, and hard cider in this region and the art and science of cider making. Native northern American apples were joined by those brought over from Europe early in the development of the original 13 colonies. Delaware produced one of the first apple drinks of Colonial American – cider, which, when fermented, becomes hard cider. Sample a variety of ciders including one made exclusively for Mt. Cuba using local ingredients. (Ages 21 and over) This program takes place in person at Mt. Cuba Center on Saturday, November 16, 2024. About the Instructor: Jeffrey “Doc” Cheskin has been making ciders for over a decade and has won some of the highest honors given to a cidermaker in the US, including producing one of the top 15 ciders in America in 2020. He founded Liquid Alchemy Beverages in 2012 with his partner Terri Sorantino, and their hard ciders are now available in over 20 locations throughout Delaware.
