Native Plants for All Seasons
Native plants fit beautifully into the landscape because they are adapted to our local growing conditions. Learn about native wildflowers, shrubs, trees and vines that provide color, texture, ecological services, and seasonal interest all year long.

From spectacular seed heads to excellent exfoliating bark characteristics, Duncan Himmelman shares plants that continue the garden highlights through the late fall and into the winter. Be inspired to go beyond the blooms and add plants to your garden that provide interest throughout the year. Class will include a walk through the gardens making note of the notable plants with late fall and winter interest. Dress for the weather and hiking on steep paths and uneven terrain. This program takes place in person at Mt. Cuba Center on Friday, October 25, 2024. About the Instructor: Duncan Himmelman, PhD, is the former Education Manager at Mt. Cuba Center. He earned his doctorate in Ornamental Horticulture at Cornell University, taught college for 24 years, and has contributed to a number of horticultural publications.
