A Tribute to Flight 93 Hero Louis J. Nacke II, Who is Laid to Rest in the Chapel Cemetery, and First Responders Will Follow

Washington Memorial Chapel’s Veteran’s Commission has announced that it will honor Patriot’s Day with a solemn remembrance service and tribute to Flight 93 Hero Louis J. Nacke II, who is laid to rest in the Chapel’s cemetery, on Wednesday, September 11 at 6:30 PM. The Service of Evening Prayer will begin in the Chapel and pay homage to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks in New York, Washington, DC and on Flight 93 in Shanksville, PA.

During the remembrance, bells will toll six times to mark the times when the planes crashed and when the towers collapsed. Prayers will be offered for all first responders and to all whose lives were forever changed on that tragic day. Following the service, there will be a procession to the grave of Nacke II, where prayers will be said for the repose of the soul of Nacke II and all who died on Flight 93. There will be a reception following in the Bishop White Library and Garden. This event is free however, registration is appreciated. Questions contact Maeve Vogan at [email protected]

The Chapel invites community members to come pray for those who lost their lives on that tragic day, and welcomes anyone from any faith. Firefighters, police and first-responders, and active and retired military service men and women are encouraged to join the commemoration.
