Mindfulness in Nature
Cultivate a more profound awareness of the natural world by immersing yourself in Mt. Cuba Center’s tranquil gardens and landscapes. Learn how to use the sounds, sights, and fragrances of the natural world to enhance and deepen your meditation practice. This class is suitable for beginners and more experienced meditators who would like to learn how to take their meditation practice outside. The class will include lecture and outside activities, so dress for the weather and wear comfortable clothing and shoes (garden paths can be uneven), and please bring a water bottle. This program takes place in person at Mt. Cuba Center on Saturday, September 21, 2024 (Rain Date: Saturday, September 28). About the Instructor: Donna Shand is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher and mindfulness mentor. She is authorized to teach insight meditation by Tara Brach PhD and Jack Kornfield PhD. Donna has been practicing insight meditation for more than 20 years and teaches locally and nationally. She has volunteered at Mt. Cuba Center as a Guest Ambassador for five years and is a self-described nature-nerd who loves sharing ways to deepen one’s appreciation of the outdoors.
