Jet Phynx Dirty Popcorn Black Film Festival: Call for Submissions
The mission of the festival is to provide a platform and venue to discover and celebrate filmmakers of color from the surrounding region.
The 2nd Annual JET PHYNX Dirty Dirty Popcorn Black Film Festival presented by Jet Phynx, hosted and sponsored by the Delaware Art Museum. Flim festival will happen in August of 2023, The mission of the festival is to provide a platform and venue to discover and celebrate filmmakers of color from Delaware and the surrounding region while also providing a means of preserving local black filmmakers. The festival is accepting submissions in three categories: - Best Short Drama/Narrative - Best Short Documentary - Best Short Experimental (music video, animation, etc.) - People’s Choice (will be determined from screenings) The event will occur in August 12, 2023. The films will be showcased at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, DE. If you are a BIPOC filmmaker from DE, MD, NJ, PA or NY, then we want your film. There is no fee to submit.
The festival is accepting short film submissions (under 30 minutes) from Black or indigenous people of color through June 1 - June 30 in three categories: Narrative (drama/fiction), Documentary, Experimental (music videos, animation, etc).
Selected films will be shown on each Sunday with a red-carpet awards ceremony set for the final Sunday, August 12.
Filmmakers from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York are eligible with no entry fee required.
