Artists Explore New Dimensions in Painting, using the Still Life as a Point of Departure

The Painterly Approach—An Exploration with Georganna Lenssen

Explore the still life or image as a point of departure in this popular workshop at Chester Springs Studio. Georganna Lenssen asks students to go further than simply representing that which is before them. Students explore their connection to a subject and its essence. Georganna will discuss contemporary painters and approaches to painting. Students develop a working knowledge and visual awareness of composition, shapes, color, paint application and surface quality. They are challenged to be expressive, bold and spontaneous--developing a visual vocabulary that expresses their unique and individual observations. It is through the union of “interpretation” and “expression” that students learn a contemporary and liberating method of painting.
