We hired JBP Handyman to install a new tub, toilet and tile the shower and floors of a hall bathroom. We ended up firing him after 2 and a half weeks of suffering through excuses, poor workmanship, mistakes and damage to our home. Not only did he damage the new tub in several places, he improperly installed the tub drain that caused a major leak in the ceiling in the room below. He refused to use protective covering on our hardwood floors in the hallway adjacent to the bathroom where he was working (after we requested that he do so) and tracked thinset mortar all over our house. The icing on the cake was him discarding his cigarette butts all over the front of our home while his truck leaked oil in every spot he parked in the driveway. His behavior was not only egregiously disrespectful, but his actual skills and abilities are questionable. The tile work that he completed was horrible - uneven spacing, crooked and a total butcher job that will have to be re-done by a professional. He took responsibility for nothing - the “directions were wrong” or the “walls weren’t level” or “the grout will hide the imperfections” were just a few of the excuses he used when confronted with our questions and concerns. His work ethic, attitude and total disrespect for someone’s home was truly astounding. We paid him 50% of the total cost of the project in advance and will be pursuing litigation to recover costs. Please do yourself a favor and do NOT hire this con man - you will be sorely disappointed!
