Kennett Square Borough Council voted to appoint Michael Bertrando to fill a council vacancy during a special meeting on Jan. 27.

Bertrando is a longtime resident and small business owner in the borough. He will serve out the remaining two years of a term as council member. As such, the appointment for this council seat ends Dec. 31, 2027, and would be subject to a new full four-year term after the general election in 2027.

Bertrando was to be officially sworn into office at the borough council meeting on Monday, Feb. 2.
