Last week marked the beginning of the holiday season in Kennett Square Borough with the start of the 9th annual Holiday Village Market. The wildly successful event, which boasts over 50 local vendors and artisans, will run its second weekend on December 13 and 14.

A group effort by Kennett Collaborate, Square Roots Collective, The Creamery and Meredith Langer (of Merely Mere), this event, hosted at The Creamery, boasts a little something for everyone and each year there’s a new twist on the already popular itinerary.

“This year, we have an area called ‘Jungle Junction’ offering face painting from 11 am to 4 p.m., -kids crafts and a balloon twister for selected times during the day on the upper slab,” Langer said. “Last weekend we had over 8,500 attendees between Saturday and Sunday, which is a record-breaking weekend for us!”

I asked Meredith what makes this year a little different than previous Village Markets.

“The layout is a little different as The Creamery is undergoing construction,” she said. “As you stroll through the event, you can loop through the heated inside of The Creamery for a beverage to warm up before heading back out to do more shopping.”

The set up for the vendors consists of 44 tents (some vendors opt for a half booth) all lovingly labeled with handmade labels by Langer.

In addition to the delicious libations (for adults and kiddos) and food by The Creamery, The Holiday Village Market also hosts several food trucks. Grab a photo with Santa, or take your little ones to get their faces painted by Calabrese Arts! However you design your visit, Holiday Village Market provides a fun and festive way to shop local, make memories, and get in the holiday spirit.

Stop by The Creamery on Birch Street anytime between 11am - 4pm to enjoy the festivities. Check out the line up online at https://kennettcollaborative.org/holidayvillagemarket/
