Plant Sale at Pratts Greenhouse to benefit public flower plantings in Kennett Square

The popular annual Kennett Plant Sale returns on May 3 and 4 at Pratt’s Greenhouse. The plant sale benefits the Kennett Beautification Committee, which provides seasonal flowers in the planters and small garden spaces throughout Kennett Square.
Ron Fenton, Community Programs Manager said, “The beauty and charm of our town through all seasons is part of what both residents and guests love about it, but I never truly appreciated the time, care, and funds needed to make Kennett bloom until I started working with the Kennett Beautification Committee. We are so grateful to Bill at Pratt’s Greenhouse for his expertise and generosity, to the garden club volunteers sharing their time and talents, and to Public Works as a partner in maintaining the beauty. Supporting the Plant Sale on May 3rd and 4th is a fun and easy way for the community to show their appreciation and help keep Kennett blooming year-round.”
Each year, volunteers fill the planters with flowers in the spring and summer and holiday greens during the winter. Bill Reynolds, owner of Pratt’s Greenhouse, meticulously selects flower varieties that will thrive in each pot’s location. The Borough of Kennett Square’s Public Works team waters them throughout the season. The Spring planting took place on March 28.
The plant sale takes place on Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pratt’s Greenhouse at 634 Hillendale Road in Avondale. Pratt’s Greenhouse will generously donate 20 percent of the proceeds to the Beautification Committee. The annual sale pays for the flowers the committee plants uptown in Kennett Square, which means shopping the sale is a great way to make your town more beautiful!
