The Oct. 10 Ches-Mont football game between cross-town rivals Unionville (UHS) and Kennett (KHS), slated to begin at 7 p.m. at Unionville High School, was postponed moments before kick-off after school officials were notified by Pennsylvania State Police about a possible knife fight that purportedly was going to take place at the game.
There has been no confirmation from Unionville High School as to when the game will be rescheduled.
In a letter to the Unionville Chadds Ford School District community, UHS Principal Amy Jenkins sent the following message:
“As a precautionary measure, our schools have made the mutual decision to postpone tonight’s game as PSP continues their investigation. Other UHS activities will continue as planned with an additional presence of police on campus.
“We recognize that our senior cheerleaders, football players and marching band members will be especially disappointed in the postponement of their recognition at tonight’s game. We will share more information with you as it becomes available, including a new game date and time.”
