Unionville High School has announced a
change in plans for the annual May Play. In a production produced,
directed and starring UHS students, the school will present "Selections from Broadway: A May Play Cabaret." The show will be
presented on Saturday, June 3 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium, and admission is free.
Original plans to present the musical "Sweeney
Todd" on June 2 and 3 have been cancelled
after rights to perform the show were not granted.
“While we are disappointed that our
original plans had to be changed, Unionville students are nothing if
not resilient,” said student director David DeMarco. “Our
40-plus member cast and crew are stepping up to the challenge and working
hard to produce a show that will be moving and memorable. I really
hope the public will support our efforts and come out to enjoy a
great -- and free -- evening of wonderful musical performances.”
The show will include musical numbers
from such Broadway classics as "Sweeney Todd," "Les Miserables," "Cats," "The Sound of Music," "Phantom of the Opera," and "Annie."
