Holiday gifts in Oxford

The Ten Thousand Villages Gift Shop will be open at the Oxford Presbyterian Church (6 Pine St., Room 206, Oxford) through Dec. 13. The shop offers fair-trade goods from around the world. Hours are First Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m., and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. On Dec. 4, Iris Gray Dowling, a local author, will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. sign books about local history.


Nov. 28

Buffet breakfast

The Oxford United Methodist Church (18 Addison St., Oxford) will hold a buffet breakfast on Nov. 28 from 7 to 10 a.m. The menu includes buttermilk pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, fruit, sausage and bacon, roasted potatoes, sausage gravy and specialty breads. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for ages 3 to 10. Proceeds benefit the church's general fund. Call 610-932-9698 for more information.


Dec. 4

Oxford Trio holiday concert

The Oxford Methodist Church (Market and Addison streets, Oxford) hosts “Christmas with the Oxford Trio and Friends,” featuring the Oxford Trio and guest singers from the Hopewell School, on Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. There will be choral and instrumental offerings, carol singing, and surprises. There is no admission charge, but an offering will be accepted and used for local needs.

Spaghetti dinner fundraiser

The Kemblesville United Methodist Church (1772 New London Rd., Kemblesville) will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Dec. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. Takeout is available from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $9 for adults ($12 for all you can eat), $7 for children ages 5 to 12 ($8 for all you can eat), free for children 4 and younger. Dec. 5

'Community Christmas Closet'

The Oxford Church of the Nazarene (116 E. Locust st., Oxford) will hold its “Community Christmas Closet” on Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon. It is open to all residents of Oxford and surrounding communities. This year’s focus is for children and youth to come and “shop” for holiday gifts to give to their loved ones. The closet is stocked with new and gently used items that have been donated by the congregation, community members and local businesses. Individuals receive free vouchers that allow them to select items to be given to others. Gift wrapping is available. The church requests that no resellers attend the event. Carol Carol Sing

There will be a Christmas Carol Sing at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 at West Grove Presbyterian Church (139 W. Evergreen St., West Grove). Everyone is welcome. Dec. 12

Drive-through Nativity

The community is invited to attend a three-part Christmas celebration hosted by Beulah Baptist Church on Dec. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. The central event, “Bethlehem @ Beulah,” is a drive-through Nativity. Visitors will hear an angel choir, see shepherds watching their flocks, and visit a stable sheltering baby Jesus and his parents. Villagers will be roaming the street, telling the Christmas story to passengers as vehicles drive through. In the church auditorium, “The Story Continues” features a series of dramatic monologues portraying the stories of individuals who had a significant encounter with Jesus. These presentations will take place every 15 minutes. There will also be a hospitality center providing light refreshments. The church is on Route 896, 300 yards north of the intersection of routes 896 and 10 in Upper Oxford. For more information, call 610-932-9595 or email [email protected].
