Kennett High School senior Katie Gallivan signed her letter of intent to play lacrosse for a Division II Philadelphia University during a ceremony on Nov. 18.

Gallivan has been playing varsity lacrosse since her freshman year, and has also been a member of the high school’s varsity field hockey team since her freshman year. She is a defensive midfielder for the lacrosse team and a right midfielder for the field hockey team.

Katie is also a member of the high school’s track and cross county teams, where she ran middle distance (800 meters and one mile), the 4-by-400 and 4-by-800 relays, and the distance medley relay.

Her athletic honors include being named to the Lacrosse Academic All-American team in 2014 and to the Ches-Mont All-Star Team for field hockey in 2013 and 2014. She was named captain of the lacrosse and field hockey teams in her senior year.

She holds three of the high school’s track records, and competed in district competition and in Nike Northeast Regionals in 2013. Off the field, she has made Distinguished Honor Roll every semester throughout high school, and was named a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist and an AP Scholar in 2014.

At Philadelphia University, she will pursue physician assistant studies, where she will earn a B.S. in health sciences and an M.S. in physician assistant studies in five years.
