DOMESTIC ASSAULTS

On July 21 at 9:05 p.m., New Garden police were dispatched to the scene of a domestic incident in the 100 block of Willow Street. The caller, Ramiro Lopez-Aguilar, 29, of Toughkenamon, told police that his wife had hit him with a broom during an argument. His wife had facial injuries and her shirt was soaked with beer, according to police. She said Lopez-Aguilar hit her in the face and threw a can of beer at her, striking her in the mouth. She told police she used the broom to defend herself. Lopez-Aguilar was charged with simple assault and harassment. He was taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post $2,500 cash bail.

New Garden police responded to a report of a possible domestic incident on July 25 in the 300 block of Cedar Springs Road. The victim said her boyfriend, Edgar Reynoso-Vasquez, 24, of Kennett Square, had punched her in the face during an argument over dinner. She had severe swelling and bruising to her right eye and upper lip. She tried to call 911 but Reynoso-Vasquez would not let her. The couple's four children, all under 5 years old, were at the home. Reynoso-Vasquez was charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. He was taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post $500 bail.

On July 26 at 2:33 a.m., a New Garden police officer saw a vehicle with New Jersey plates sitting still on New Garden Road. A passenger in the rear seat opened the car door and threw out her shoe. During a traffic stop, the passenger approached police, saying, “You see what he did to me.” She had an injury to her right eye and blood around her mouth. Joseph Mitchell, 49, of Eastampton, N.J., yelled obscenities and got out of the car. The victim identified Mitchell as the person who struck her. He was taken into custody and charged with simple assault and harassment. He was later arraigned and released on $10,000 bail.

HEROIN ARREST

On July 30, New Garden Township police officers saw a red tanker truck parked behind a business in the 700 block of West Cypress Street. The truck left quickly and the passenger was seen moving toward the floor and console areas. Due to recent thefts and complaints of illegal dumping, police stopped the truck. Passenger Mark Blevins, 38, of Clayton, Del., stepped out of the truck and police found a plastic bag and small straw on the passenger-side floor. A container with several new and unused bags of heroin was also found. Police recovered six bags which tested positive for heroin and fentanyl. Blevins was arrested for possession of heroin, arraigned and taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post $3,500 bail.

TIRES PUNCTURED

Sometime overnight on July 12, two tires were punctured on a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Hazel Avenue in Kennett Square.

DRUG CHARGES

Kennett Square police arrested a 16-year-old Avondale boy for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic offenses on July 21 at 12:51 a.m., after he was seen driving the wrong way in the 100 block of East State Street. He was released to his parents, and charges have been filed through juvenile probation authorities.

DUI

New Garden police stopped a car being driven erratically on Newark Road on July 26 at 11:59 p.m., and found that the driver, Miguel Hernandez-Mares, 20, of Wilmington, Del., showed signs of intoxication. He was charged with DUI, processed and released pending a court appearance.

Kennett Square police arrested Melissa Hunt, 55, of Pocopson, for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and traffic offenses after a traffic stop in the 500 block orf South Union Street on July 2. She was released pending a summons from district court.

Kennett Square police arrested John DePippo, 19, of Kennett Square, for DUI and traffic offenses after a traffic stop on July 15 on Walls Alley, off of East Linden Street. He was released pending a summons from district court.

New Garden Township police arrested Robert Buker II, 67, of Newark, Del., on Aug. 3 at 12:30 a.m. after he was seen tailgaing another vehicle on Gap Newport Pike and passing the vehicle on a double yellow line. Buker was arrested for DUI and released pending an appearance in district court.
