Garden Party benefits the arts in Oxford

05/20/2014 06:16PM ● By Acl

Past participants in the table decorating contest have come in costume to match the Garden Party's theme.

The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Oxford Arts Alliance is taking place on June 14. The sixth Annual Garden Party is a chance to contribute to the growth of the arts in Oxford -- and have an elegant dinner at the same time.

The tented event will be held in the gardens surrounding the Welcome Center at Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford. Guests will enjoy a buffet dinner, silent auction, live music and the popular table-decorating contest that brings out the creative spirit of dozens of teams every year.

This year has a southern theme, so participants are invited to decorate their tables -- and dress up -- however they want to suit that theme. Cream-colored linens are provided to everyone, but the rest is up to the teams. The results will be judged, and there's a prize for the table that best suits the theme.

Oxford Arts Alliance music instructors will perform during the event. The silent auction will offer private tours and trips, reataurant packages and event tickets.

Participants bring their own beverages. Some tableware will be provided, but bringing your own plates, cultery and napkins will help complete your table's appearance.

The Oxford Arts Alliance provides art and music education, art and social events, advocacy for artists, scholarships and an economic draw for downtown Oxford.

Tickets are $45 ($320 for a table that seats eight). The Garden Party will be held at Ware Presbyterian Village (7 E. Locust St., Oxford). Visit www.oxfordart.org for ticket orders, or e-mail [email protected] for more information.
