Choose Ann Schott for reform in Harrisburg

Letter to the Editor:

I’m proud to endorse Ann Schott for State Representative in the 13th District.

I’ve known the Schott family for nearly 15 years, and they’ve played a vital role in my own public service. In each of my campaigns, Ann has been an important supporter and advisor—especially on education issues. As the parent of two students in Avon Grove schools, I’m deeply concerned about the direction our state is heading relative to a central public good.

A respected career public high school teacher, Ann will be a forceful voice for common-sense reforms, reduced state mandates, and a real school funding formula that will reduce reliance on property taxes. She also shares my belief that it is disgraceful that we remain the only state in the nation without a natural gas severance tax – the revenues which would allow us to begin to restore the last three years of the draconian Corbett/Lawrence education cuts.

I’m grateful to Ann for entering this race to ensure a real debate on the issues, and urge every 13th District Democrat to join me in supporting her on Tuesday, May 20. I also hope that Republicans and Independents will consider voting for her in November. The Corbett/Lawrence agenda that has left Pennsylvania 47th in the nation in job growth, is simply the wrong direction for Pennsylvania. It’s time to invest in our students once again.
