The Golden Gala on Feb. 8 raised almost $20,000 for the Unionville-Chadds Ford school district.

The Education Foundation's Golden Gala event was held on Feb. 8 at the Gables at Chadds Ford to a full room of guests. With the power outages and harsh weather, guests were encouraged to "Come as you are! Including pajamas!"

Though most guests elected to dress up, many had to shower and change at the Gables due to a lack of power or water in their own homes.

"It was very moving to see all the effort that everyone made to support the Education Foundation and join in the event. Our community has been very hard hit in this storm, but they really came together tonight. Just wonderful," said foundation president Lele Galer. Sponsored and hosted by The Gables, the Golden Gala is the largest annual fundraiser for the educational non-profit and raised almost $20,000 to support educational programs and projects throughout the Unionville-Chadds Ford school district.

Parents, teachers, administrators and community members chatted and danced while listening to music and enjoying appetizers and drinks. The silent auction helped to bring in more than $10,000. All money raised goes back to support programming that educates and encourages children in the school district.

Since its inception, the foundation has raised almost $500,000. For more information, visit www.ucfef.org.
