The Student of the Month at Avon Grove High School is Gabrielle Salerni.

Salerni's favorite classes are English, Spanish and orchestra. She is the co-founder of the The Quibblers, a writing club, and also participates in Strolling Strings, the fall play, the spring musical, the Literacy Magazine, the Academic Team and the ACT Community Theater.  Gabrielle is interested in creative writing, skiing and world cultures.

She also volunteers in the Parkesburg String Quartet, and serves as a library helper at the community library. She recently received honorable mention on the publication of her short story, titled “Black Blade.”  Her goal is to attend New York University and major in English and music. Her career goal is to become a literary editor/agent, as well as joining a professional orchestra.

Each year, the West Grove-Avondale Rotary Club recognizes eight outstanding junior and senior students from Avon Grove High School. The students are invited, together with parents and their principal, to join the members of the Rotary Club during one of their regular breakfast meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 7 a.m. at the Alison Building at Jenners Pond.

The students are invited to speak before the club members about their scholastic activities, sports, outside interests and future goals. Lynn Klingensmith, the club president, presents a certificate to each student, along with a $25 gift certificate to a bookstore.
