Eleven Kennett High School musicians have been selected by audition to various Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 12 Honor Festivals.

Participating in the District Chorus, from Jan. 9 to 11, were Samantha Anthony, Pearl Battalora, Dani Eland, Matt Griffin, Aaron Hrenko, Marisa Maxwell, Colby Reeves, and Julia Rivera.  The event was held at Phoenixvile High School. At KHS, these students are directed by Katie Soukup.

Second-time participant Marisa Maxwell reflected on her experience.  “I had such a marvelous time. I made it last year and had a wonderful time, but this year was even better,” she said. “Our conductor, Dr. Buchanan, was an incredibly talented musician and director. Everyone came well prepared and, because of that, we were able to really perfect the pieces in only one day. The choir as a whole was even more focused than last year, and Dr. Buchanan commented that this was the best district/region choir she has ever conducted. I loved all of the pieces we performed; she chose some really beautiful pieces, and it was truly a special opportunity to be a part of such a professional choir.”

District Orchestra performed on Jan. 25 at Bishop Shanahan High School in Downingtown. Kennett High School student Katie Coughlan participated.  Katie Coughlan, Erin Dooley and Rebecca Ploener will be part of the District Band Festival, Feb. 6 to 8, at West Chester Henderson High School.  The students are directed at Kennett High School by Anton Romano and Jessica Eves.
