Oxford Borough's downtown is improving

Letter to the Editor:

Since I opened my business in March 2009, I have noticed a steady improvement in the business district of Oxford Borough.

There have been many new businesses that have opened, especially in the last year. The reason for this development is the diligent work of three individuals—borough manager Betsy Brantner, Oxford Mainstreet Inc., Executive Director Sue Cole and Mayor Geoff Henry. This was done and is continuing to be done through their various committees and highly motivated employees and volunteers. There is an excitement in Oxford that is very addictive and is spreading to business owners and property owners alike.

Mayor Henry, you are to be commended for your selection of Police Chief John Slauch, and for supporting Slauch and Brantner as they do their jobs.

The police chief and his policemen are second to none. They are very professional, knowledgeable, and hard working at our many events and activities in Oxford. The borough's public works committees are also to be commended for their hard work. The borough is clean, neat and safe in all types of weather due to  their work ethic. The codes officer is also doing a great job of enforcing the borough codes.

In general, the mayor and his employees, the borough manager and her employees, and the borough council are working together to make Oxford a  great place to live, shop, and own a business.
