KMC boys team wins in Gettysburg

The KMC boys gymnastics team kicked off their competitive gymnastics season on Nov. 16 with a strong showing at the Tim Weaver Battlefield Invitational in Gettysburg. 

Competing against more than 300 gymnasts from 20 teams, the KMC squad scored first place all-around trophies by Devin Trinter, Andrew Overman, Kyle Walchuk, Liam Bachman, Gunar Daniels, Thomas Casey, Kieran Murdocca, and Nicholas Dunbar. KMC’s level 6 and level 8 squad won the team competitions and level 5 and level 10 placed fifth.

The results include the following:

Level 10 

In the 16-year-old age group, Matt Bunke earned second in all-around and on high bar. He won fourth on pommel horse, and sixth on rings.  Brendan Mcbride earned third on floor and fourth on pommel horse.

Level 9 

In the 13-year-old age group, Devin Trinter garnered first in the all-around, floor, pommel horse, rings, and parallel bars. He placed second on high bar, and fourth on vault.  

Level 8

For the 11-year-old age group, Liam Bachman was third in the all-around and on high bar. He won first place on floor and rings, and he was second on vault and fourth on pommel horse and parallel bars.  Jackson Scheck finished fifth in the all-around, on pommel horse, and parallel bars. He earned fourth place on floor, rings, vault, and high bar.  For the 12-year-old age group, Collin Cunane earned second in all-around, on floor, parallel bars, and high bar. He took home third on pommel horse and fifth on rings.  Kieran Murdocca won fifth in all-around and received first place on pommel horse. He placed fourth on floor, parallel bars, and high bar.

Level 6 

In the 9-and-under age group, Kyle Walchuk won the all-around, floor, and high bar. He received second on pommel horse and rings, and fourth on parallel bars. For the 11-year-old age group, Andrew Overman received first place in all-around, floor, pommel horse, vault, and high bar. He was fourth on parallel bars, and sixth on rings. Kieran Clark won second place in all-around, floor, and parallel bars.  He place third on rings and high bar; fourth on vault, and fifth on pommel horse. Gunar Daniels took home fourth in all-around and first place on vault and parallel bars. He also placed third on floor and pommel horse. 

Level 5 

In the 7-and-under age group, Henry Wagner placed fifth in all-around and fourth on parallel bars and high bar and sixth on floor, rings, and vault.  

In the 9-year-old age group, Nick Dunbar received second place in all-around and on pommel horse.  He placed first on high bar, third on rings, and vault as well as sixth on floor. 

In the 11-and-over age group, Thomas Casey won third place all-around, on rings and parallel bars. He was first on floor and vault.   TJ Langdon received fifth on pommel horse.

Level 4

In the 7-and-under age group, Spencer Biggs placed third on high bar and sixth on parallel bars. In the 8-year-old age group, Daniel Slater earned fifth on parallel bars. In the 10-and-over age group, Naval Lappalainen was fifth on vault and sixth on high bar.

KMC Gymnastics is located at 912 W Cypress St. in Kennett Square.  The gym is run and owned by Karen Myers. The boys are coached by Victor Kolesnikov, Jerry Fix, Brian Narvaez and Dave Hirst. The boys will compete again on Dec. 14 and 15 in Laurel, Md.
