Kennett Square welcomes the holiday season
11/20/2013 02:16PM ● By AclKennett Square kicks off its holiday season with the traditional Holiday Light Parade on Nov. 29.
The parade will be filled with a variety of vehicles, including fire engines and antique cars, floats, groups and individuals. It will start at 6:15 p.m. at the corner of Lafayette and West State streets, and will continue down Lafayette to State Street, and down State to South Broad.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in a horse-drawn carriage to light the Kennett Square holiday tree.
There will be activities before the parade, including caroling, a professional clown and dance performances. Shops in town will remain open late for shoppers.
There will be a raffle of holiday baskets filled with gifts from Kennett Square merchants. Last year’s basket was worth more than $6,500. The raffle was so popular last year that there will be two baskets this year. Tickets for this year’s raffle are $5 for one, or three for $10, and will be available at the merchant shops towards the end of November. The drawing will be held on Dec. 21 at the Mushroom Cap.
