The West Grove-Avondale Rotary Club recently recognized eight junior and senior students from Avon Grove High School and Avon Grove Charter School.
Each student is selected by his or her teachers. They are invited, together with parents and their principal, to join the members of the Rotary Club during one of their regular breakfast meetings at Jenners Pond. The students are invited to speak before the club members about their scholastic activities, sports, outside interests and future goals.
Lynn Klingensmith, the club president, presents a certificate to each student along with a $25 gift certificate to a bookstore.
The October Student of the Month from Avon Grove High School is Connor McPartland. He was selected for his overall outstanding academic achievement and professionalism. He's a junior, and his favorite classes are advanced placement chemistry and macro-economics. He is involved in student council, varsity football, track and field, student forum, and serves as junior class treasurer. He also enjoys volunteering at Wildcats football camps and the Special Olympics. His goal is to attend college to study either mechanical engineering or bio-medical engineering. He would like to be a surgeon in the Navy.
