After a traffic stop by Kennett Square police on Oct. 21, two men were arrested on drug charges. The traffic stop, in the 500 block of Center Street, resulted in the arrest of Jose Rodriguez, 31, for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Unable to post bail of $3,000, he was taken to Chester County Prison. Also arrested was Jose Tenorio-Corona, 37, of Toughkenamon, for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana. He was unable to post bail of $10,000, and was taken to Chester County Prison.
ASSAULT
According to Kennett Square police, a man reported being assaulted by two men on Oct. 18 at 5:27 p.m. in the 200 block of Birch Street. He was unable to provide a description of the assailants to police.
BURGLARY
Pennsylvania State Police Avondale reported that a home at 2114 Ewing Road in Cochranville was burglarized on Oct. 28. Someone forced open a back door of the home and took two bottles of prescription medication.
WATCHES STOLEN
Pennsylvania State Police Avondale are investigating the theft of two watches which were taken from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Freese Road in East Nottingham Township overnight on Oct. 18. Stolen were a Tag Heuer and a Garmin GPW watch, worth approximately $3,000. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.
JEWELRY STOLEN
A home at 1698 Waterglen Drive, Pocopson Township, was burglarized on Oct. 28 between 12:30 and 1:10 p.m. Someone entered the home through an unlocked rear door and took a jewelry box and jewelry. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.
DUI
New Garden Township police responded to a report of a one-car accident on Oct. 17 in the 500 block of Church Road. Police found Jose Almanza, 28, of Cochranville, sitting in the driver's seat. He showed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody. He was later charged with DUI and released pending a court appearance.
On Oct. 24, New Garden Township police stopped a car driven by George Carter, 35, of Newark, Del., after he had passed several cars in a no-passing zone in the 8800 block of Gap Newport Pike. Police learned that Carter might have been involved in a hit-and-run accident at Gap Newport Pike and Limestone Road. The victim of the hit-and-run identified Carter's car, which had front-end damage. Carter was charged with DUI and admitted to taking a prescription medication after being up all night. He was released pending a court appearance.
New Garden Township police reponded to a one-car accident on Oct. 28 in the 800 block of Penn Green Road and found the occupants of the car fleeing the scene. Two were taken into custody, and the third occupant was found in the Landenberg Hunt development. Gerardo Tellez-Castillo, 28, of Wilmington, Del., admitted to driving the vehicle. He was taken into custody, charged with DUI and released pending a court appearnace. The passengers -- Francisco Zamores, 38, of Lancaster, and Artemio Zavala-Lara, 47, of Wilmington, Del. -- were found walking away from the scene, charged with public drunkenness and released pending a court appearance.
Cesario Oxtocapan, 27, of Kennett Square, was arrested for DUI by New Garden Township police on Oct. 30 at 1 a.m., after police saw him driving erratically in the 1300 block of Baltimore Pike. He was released pending a summons from district court.
