Autumn programs at White Clay Creek State Park
10/16/2013 04:20PM ● By AclThere's plenty of autumn activity at the White Clay Creek State Park Nature Center (425 Wedgewood Road, Newark, Del), and families are invited to take part. The October schedule includes:
Autumn hayrides (Saturdays through Nov. 2; Sundays through Nov. 17, on the hour from 4 to 7 p.m.). The cost is $100 per wagon. Participants can meet afterwards at a camp fire. Refreshments are not provided. Park entrance fee in effect. Call for reservations (302-368-6900).
Ghost Stories with Ed Okonowicz and Full Moon Hayride (Oct 18, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.). Okonowicz will be telling Delmarva's best ghost stories after a hayride. Participants must be 12 or older. In case of inclement weather, storytelling will be moved indoors. Registration is required ($12 per person).
Autumn Family Hike (Oct. 20, 1 p.m.). Each hiker will make and decorate their own hiking stick before setting out on this afternoon hike on the first day of autumn. The fee is $4 per person. Call to register.
Mystery at the Mansion: "Something Borrowed, Something Blue" (Oct. 25, 26 and Nov. 2, 7 p.m.). Take part in the Spumoni wedding, circa 1950s, with a murderer in their midst. Coffee and dessert will be served. Participants must be 18 or older. Tickets are $19. Pre-registration is required. Call 302-368-6900.
